I'm such a jew and every now and then I have a craving for a bagel, lox and cream cheese. There is no place in the area other than Bagel Emporium that makes you feel like you're in a real NYC Deli having a real Jewish spread. The food is absolutely amazing. I usually go for breakfast and have the matzo brei, add some jelly and sour cream and it's just like my Mema used to make. The staff is so warm and inviting, Even the guys behind the counter preparing catered orders and daily food items for sale are friendly and engaging. This spot is simply perfect for anyone who appreciates home cooking made with love. Only problem I have, servers drop the check prior to you asking for it and sometimes don't even ask if you would like anything else.

How often do you eat something that rocks your world? I've been eating here since my first day of college in 1984. Today 30 years later Otto the deli master created a new smoked salmon sandwich that was literally one of the best things I have ever had. Ask for the Otto Sandwich and... You're welcome.

Very overpriced, food isn't that great. Adding cheese on your eggs is $2... Really? Better off going down the street to Dennys, you can get a brkfst a lot bigger and cheaper.

When I worked at UM, this place was the place to go for many people. If you want something fresh and good, visit here without hesitation. That being said, the place doesn't seem quite as clean as it used to be. But there were no big red flags, I'm still very comfortable eating here.

High prices, horrible decor, rude servers, fair food. The atmosphere is very depressing the servers think they are doing you a favor and the owner is doing building repairs during the lunch hour. I go out to relax and enjoy not hear banging of electric repairs.

Read the other 1 Star Reviews, I just did. Apparently rude behavior is an ongoing issue here. Go somewhere else where they respect and appreciate you, not here. The food is definitely not worth it. This was my first time there. I went in to grab a bite for lunch. I admittedly did not see the sign that the counter was for take out only, I just saw a counter, went to it and ordered. When I went to check out, I told the woman that I would be sitting down, not taking it to go, and she said "well, you should have told us before, sit down is for full service only". I explained I didn't know, and would tip the waitress, it wasn't about money, I just didn't know the policy when I went to the counter. The woman was both less than friendly, less than concerned and less than helpful. She said I could ask the manager, perhaps he'd let me sit at the counter. At this point, I was feeling less than welcome and declined her suggestion and just wanted to leave as quickly as possible. When they told me my meal would be 5 more minutes and I had to stand around, i decided to ask the manger who, with the attitude of less than helpful, less than caring, etc. "offered" to let me sit at the corner counter space. I sat down for a few minutes, realized how uncomfortable both had made me feel and decided that I would not eat there. I stood up, waited for my food and left to sit outside, eating while balancing my meal in my lap. I would have GLADLY tipped a waitress the same as I would have had I had full service, I just didn't know the policy when I ordered. It was my first, and last time, to go into this inhospitable establishment. I could have just as easily been graciously explained the policy and offered a seat and they would have kept a customer. Instead, I was made to feel like a sqautter and they lost a customer, at least one, by simply not handling the situation with a bit of graciousness and helpfulness. As far as the food, I would give it a 3 out of 5. The back counter staff was also friendly. It was the check out lady and the manager who could have handled this better.

I was here before and no issue but today HORRIBLE! The owner himself wouldn't let me sit even though I pleated to sit to order an appetizer because my sugar was low and confirmed that my friend was just two doors down finishing up work. When my friend finally arrived (about 5 minutes after) and I was escorted by the same guy "owner of the place" THREW the menus on the table. To make matters worse BONNIE the waitress was rude and also limited my options when I've chosen the same sides before without a problem. Then without even taking the first bite she tossed the receipt on the table! I mean seriously what kind of service is that! She doesn't know if I'm even going to order something else or who I am! Also NEVER even bothered to ask if I needed anything else or water for that matter. Good luck to them getting reviewed when an actual professional reviewer goes undercover!

$2.50 for a cup of coffee on weekends and after 10am on weekdays. Other than that, I've got no complaints.

I was so disappointed on my visit here. I had heard nothing but great things and lived in the area so long that I figured a visit was long overdue. I was really craving Lox & Cream Cheese bagels so we got in line for a take-out order of 2. We had high expectations I suppose and plans to picnic by the lighthouse in Key Biscayne with our lunch. So after choosing my bagel (Asiago) and grabbing a black & white cookie in addition to my husband's plain lox bagel and an iced coffee.... I was shocked and our mouth's dropped to hear the total was about $40! For 2 bagels, a cookie, and coffee??!! I double-checked with the cashier, then went back and triple-checked with the bagel creator person ... yup lox bagels are $15 a pop!! Holy moly. While reflecting in the car, I soon after regretted my visit and should have gone to Einstein Bagels for the same taste at much cheaper. Or Lots of Lox down US1. But I quickly remembered the location is in the Gables and near UM. And that explained it all...

This place has been here for a while. Fantastic pastrami sandwiches with sweet potato fries! Their large menu has choices for everyone and you can order meat, cheeses, cookies etc at the deli section. Weekends this place gets packed with locals, a good sign of course and not so locals too so there is a nice range of customers frequenting. Parking is pretty ample with no meters on the lot. Prices are a bit on the higher end but everyone deserves to treat themselves every now and again.

Love the natural orange juice and big portions. The food is always great! Great service too! It gets a little full on weekends but it is definitely worth the wait. They also have a huge selection of bagels which is pretty awesome!

Just never disappoints! Food is great (especially the Kosher hot dogs, or bacon, or tuna melt, or...) the people that work there are also awesome.

I only had take out here, today was my first time! I had a cheese bagel with Sausage egg and cheese. It was delish, and the staff was friendly and the prices were reasonable! Definitely going to check it out again in the future!

This little gem was conveniently located beside our hotel. We went on a Friday morning and we were seated immediately. I had the bagel sandwich which was big and very filling. The service was swift and the servers were friendly. We went again the following day for bagels to go. Great new york style bagels.

This is definitely the best bagel place in the area. Their bacon, egg and cheese sandwich is enormous and brings any style of eggs you choose. We've also ordered the scrambled eggs with potatoes and the veggie omelettes. The food and coffee are consistent and we tend to go when we get our bagel cravings. Oh! Their rugelach pastries are really good. We usually get the cinnamon and the raspberry. I'm not too fond of their pancakes but I usually go for bagels, so it's not a problem. The wait can get pretty long, if you go after 9:00 - 9:30 am on the weekends.

Oh, Bagel Emporium. How you made many a morning brighter back in my college days. This place has all your typical deli options-- fresh bagels and breads-- plus loads of breakfast and lunch options. There's plenty of seating, but expect a short wait if you're trying to get in during the peak morning hours Friday- Sunday. The early mornings are full of upstanding Coral Gables residents... and then the rest of the day it's filled with hungover UM students who act as though they haven't seen a glass of water or a hot meal in weeks. The service is usually relatively quick, but I've had to sit and wait longer than I've liked on days when they're swamped. All of the people who work there seem like they've been there forever and know the menu inside and out. I'd say the average breakfast dish (eggs/meat/side) runs about $7-9. The average lunch (i.e. delicious sandwiches on bagels) are more like $9-11 each. They're really helpful about splitting the check, but you pay at the front so make sure you don't forget to tip your server! They also have really awesome looking cookies that I'm always too full to try!!

Who would think that a simple breakfast could be so special. Two eggs with sausages, home style potatoes, an everything bagel and I was blown away. Forget everything else and I wasn't under the influence. The food was so tasty and it hit the spot in such a colossal way that this meal made Bagel Emporium one of my best places to have breakfast in Miami. The eggs were tasty, the potatoes were delicious, the bagel was fresh and the sausages were just the best I've had in a long time. For some unknown reason I thought this was just a bagel shop with baked goods, bagels and coffee for take out, and also or maybe some tables and free WiFi. But no, this is a deli style restaurant with many tables, and they serve some awesome breakfast. While I was there I saw a lot of students and business people, as well as families with kids. I was just awed by the flow and the humility of this place. My friend ordered some pancakes and a chocolate milk. That order was just OK, and I figured I got lucky with my stuff. On the other hand, I will definitely go back to try the Belgian waffles and the french toast. One more thing, the coffee is not gourmet, is more like gas station, but the bagels are the best. After that amazing breakfast I got to see Oscar Pistorius run in the London Olympics. I wonder if there is a correlation?

When's for breakfest sun and it was not what I expected. Had been many times in the past but it's been 1yr since I had been and I will not return. I asked the waitress to make sure the nova was cut paper thin otherwise I can't eat it so 30 min wait for something tat was not cooked they bring thick cut nova I send it back and say forget it they tell me give me 5 min I'll get it the way. U want it so another 20 min goes by and I ask for my check 3 times they keep saying another 5 min so finally they bring me thin nova with the same toasted bagel from 35 min ago that was so tough I almost broke my teeth chewing it . The guy offered another bagel but by that time 1 hr I was done so that's my experience

Pretty decent bagels. It's your only option in a 20 mile radius if you want an edible bagel with cream cheese. Breakfast is pretty good overall. Be ready for a long line on Sunday morning. Takeout is a better option when the place is packed. Let me clarify this by saying, this review is by miami standards. I'm from New York. There is nothing more important to me than pizza, Chinese food and bagels. If you want New York quality bagels you need to go up to boca raton to even come close. But if you're stuck in miami, this is your best shot at getting a fix.

The E.T. bagel is so yummy!!! Get a bagel. Their breakfast is delicious and their grits are amazing! They have real OJ...service is fast and friendly. Kind of place you can roll out of bed and go to. They open early, that is always a plus!

This place is terrible. The owner is an arrogant punk who told us he needed our table while we were finishing our meal. I would avoid this place. The food was terrible.

So, this is one of the few places you can go to get deli food, and the deli food is good, but OMG does the service suck. The hours are really limiting and every time we go I just want a bagel. A REAL bagel. And they are always out of half the menu. I want to like this place because it is nearly impossible to find Jewish Deli food in Miami and they are ok at it, but seriously, is having bagels at place called Bagel Emporium really too much to ask? I hope that I am just unlucky and the waitress just doesn't like me, but I have yet to have an entirely good visit to this place.

My order was as simple as it gets: Plain Bagel, toasted with a side of cream cheese. I have never had a toasted plain bagel with cream cheese that tastes as good as the one I had here! I mean, if they succeed at a simple order, I'm sure they can handle the more complicated stuff. Perfectly toasted and they gave me two little containers of cream cheese. I want to say it was their own cream cheese? Maybe because it was saltier and less of a consistency but just as creamy as the usual Philadelphia cream cheese. Can't be too certain. It came out to $2.54 and I was in and out in less than 5 minutes. Me like. Me like a lot.

Want breakfast at 3pm in the afternoon? This is the place to go. The omelets at Bagel Emporium are delicious. I have had the turkey omelet and the ham omelet. Both were cooked to perfection and very flavorful. Oh and the best part is it comes with your choice of one side (ask for the grilled tomatoes) and a bread (including a bagel). If you really want to be impressed ask them to put chive cream cheese on your omelet. Trust me its worth every singe calorie. I have also tried some of the lunch specials. You definitely can't beat the price $12 buys you a grilled chicken with one side and a drink. I was impressed by your Cesar salad because it came with warm grilled chicken v. other places that put cold stale chicken in your salad. Why not 5 stars? The service is terrible. If you go with a big party, they will surely mess up your order, it takes a long time to get your food and they run out of food items. Granted I have only gone during rush lunch hour on weekdays which tends to get really packed. Overall, I go to Bagel Emporium at least once a week. Why because its one of the limited food options I have and for what is in the shopping center this is the best choice.

I can honestly say that I am more than able to write a review for this deli. I have had breakfast at this spot almost every Saturday for more than a dozen years and I have the menu memorized. Now the Bagel Emporium can be a bit pricey but they do serve good breakfast. I personally love their omeletes (4 eggs) and Jewish options. Coffee is alright, bit watered down for me, but doable nonetheless. A big standout for this place is their bagels. I always have the whole wheat E.T. bagel and it has never been stale. They make all their bagels fresh and have a considerable amount of whole wheat options (trust me they don't taste healthier, they just are). I can vouch for this place's nova and smoked salmon, though it is a bit pricy, you do get what you pay for and this is one of the only places in Miami where I have found smoked salmon of such high quality. The best breakfast item on the menu in my opinion is the Hungry Person - for some 7 dollars you get two eggs, ham or sausage, grits (some of the best grits I've had) or fruit or home fries (also worth trying), and bagel or toast. The service has never been top notch here, its more of a family restaurant. My family and I are valued customers and we know the owners and most of the waiters and so our problems are fixed immediately. They also have great soups and sandwiches. Their pastrami and roast beef sandwiches are of high quality and they always put a considerable amount of meat in the sandwich (order french fries or cole slaw with your sandwich!!). Their Matzo-Ball soup is one of my favorites, one of the best I've ever had, and I believe it comes with a side of toasted bagel chips. The Bakery part is pretty expensive, when you can get a bagel for a little more than a dollar, everything else seems pricy. Very good breads, rolls, etc.

Bagel Emporium is the hotspot for bagels, coffee and hangover cures. It's a no frills deli across the street from the U so there's always Miami students there. Meals are plentiful, the hungry person is roughy $9 and includes a bagel, meat, potatoes and 2 eggs with a free coffee on the weekdays. It's my favorite bagel place in Miami-Dade!

I have never been so disrespected and treated so rudely. First, the food. I came here with my students for lunch after our last day together. We were all in good spirits and I was excited to try this place after seeing the rave reviews. I had a feta and tomato omelet and had rye toast. The omelet itself was lack luster and not worth the $10. They burnt my toast. One of my students had a waffle and it was so hard she couldn't cut it with her fork. The other had burnt french toast with excess egg & she said it was all around not good. My student with the eggs Benedict said it was good and they have good Hollandaise sauce. One with the Mexican scramble said it was good. The Bagel chips were nothing special and didn't taste fresh. None of the others reported anything about their meal. Our waitress did a spectacular job for a group of 10. Our food was a little slow to come out, but I assume it's because they were trying to send it all together. My food wasn't particularly warm. So I don't advise coming with a group. Here is the reason for 1 star only. When paying you go up to the counter. The waitress was kind enough to divide up our checks. I left her extra on top of the gratuity because she was sweet. When it was finally my turn to pay, the guy said that tab had been closed out. I was like "are you sure" guy yes the girl before you paid it (mind you HE cashed her out). I was like "really" I did not think they would by my lunch because they bought me an hour long massage and made me cookies, and she didn't say anything about it and had already left. They the guy tries to tell me the Mexican scramble tab was open, but the one who got that just paid it. So, then he's looking around and the one he said paid for me was the tab that was open(ham & cheese sandwich), that much more than my bill. We were confused and it didn't make sense since the paper I HANDED TO HIM had my CORRECT FOOD. I said whatever & I would just pay it, but then he kept carrying on about how she gave him to tabs & he combined them & that's what it was. WHEN HE INPUT THE CHECKS WRONG. He combined the wrong tabs & tried to blame my student that wasn't there to defend herself & then had the gall to say "don't get all excited" WELL, I AM EXCITED NOW BECAUSE YOUR THE IDIOT THAT CANT USE YOUR OWN REGISTER THEN CONTINUED TO ARGUE WITH ME EVEN AFTER I INITIALLY WAS GOING TO JUST BLOW IT OFF SINCE I WAS HAVING A GOOD LAST DAY WITH MY STUDENTS. Why would you pick a fight with someone who didn't even care??? Especially when it just caused me & all my students to realize that HE made the error & wouldn't take credit for it. All he cared was that the ridiculous $16 sandwich was paid for. He even has the audacity to say "we can call her back and credit that charge and charge her for the right one" SERIOUSLY?!?!?! She already left & the charges are wrong from YOUR ORDER ENTRY, not from her because I HANDED YOU THE CORRECT TAB and the ones she handed you had been through the spike indicating they were rung up. I guess I will never "make sure" when someone says my bill was paid for again. I was trying to do the right thing and got insulted, yelled at, and overcharged for the owners mistake. NEVER again will I return here.

Nothing fancy, just fantastic breakfast. Honorable mention goes to the country fried steak and hungry person, those are my two usuals. Simple yet delicious, make sure you ask for Lief. Please do not leave the BAGEL Emporium until you try one of their bagels.

Best breakfast staple in coral gables and pretty much Miami. Everything is good, the eggs are cooked just right, bagel are soft inside and perfectly crusted, pancakes and French toast are great, I could go on. Also I love their white fish salad and tuna salad! Also a really relaxed place and PERFECT for hungover Sunday breakfast.

I needed some lunch on the run because I was starving and heading to work. However, my present dietary restrictions left me with little choices. I really don't do deli meat, but I was in a jam, so I headed in and expected Bagel Emporium to be some student trap serving horrible-tasting, mass-produced, rapidly-served junk where they just slap some deli meat on a bagel and call it a day. To my surprise, for one, this was no place for a quick pick-up-and-go. I think I waited for 15 minutes, so I wasn't too happy about that considering I just knew all it would be was some tired, over-processed deli meat. Finally, after everyone else in the place, about 5 people, I finally got my order. I opened it in the car and I was shocked! I think there was like 3 inches of actual thick-sliced real oven roasted turkey! No deli meat at all! I couldn't eat anything with mayo because of my dumb diet, so that excluded 4 types of mayo-based "salads" and left me with fries. The sandwich was stacked and the cheese bagel was amazingly fresh, fluffy, and chewy, not the kind of never-ending chewy a lot of other bagels have, but a pleasant, soft kinda chewy. On the downside, the sammie only came with one slice of lettuce along with a slice or two of tomato. The tomato was delish! The veggies seemed to have a light vinegar dressing on them that enhanced the fresh taste. Also, the meat was flavorless, but decently-cooked. What can you really expect at a deli, as opposed to an actual restaurant. Also, they close at 4pm. My grand total for lunch was a bit pricier than what I intended to spend and, a bit pricey in general, at 9 bucks after adding a mediocre, not-so-fresh cinnamon streusel muffin, but the sandwich was was worth it with all that meat and that super fresh bagel! Best bagels I've had thus far! I also got a plain bagel the next day, which had a touch of a pretzel-y flavor and some light garlic powder flavor. It had that same chewy and fluffiness. My kaiser roll was amazingly fluffy, chewy, and delicious, too. All in all, 4.5 stars and when I'm not broke and not tight on time, I'd go here and know that I'd get a tasty meal. If nothing else, it's a quick stop for a bagel (~$.75 after tax) to fill my tummy until I can get a meal.

Its probably too early for me to write a review because I've never sat and ate here. I've only had their bagels to go. However....these were amazing bagels!!!! I can only imagine what the rest of the menu is like. I am definitely a fan and the bagels are so good, I'm coming back for much more. Very busy atmosphere which I like from a bagel/deli place. Def. recommend.

I made the mistake of ordering blintzes there. they looked and tasted as if they had come out of a box. My daughter made the comment afterwards that she thought I had ordered mini burritos because that is what they looked like. what a rip off. live and learn, I guess. stick to the sandwiches; pastrami and corned beef (what the others at my table ordered, looked good). Don't forget to ask for the pickles - they will not bring them to the table unless you request them.

Love this place! They have the best bagel sandwiches I have ever had. The Everything bagels with the best egg, cheddar cheese, and bacon a girl could ever want.....My only word of advice is: ORDER TAKE OUT AND GO PICK IT UP! If you do, you will save yourself a huge headache, and have a full stomach to last you until dinner!

I'm a huge fan of breakfast- and like the old adage goes: "The bigger the better!" I've been here on numerous occasions when I've needed to satiate those early morning pangs of hunger, especially after a long night of well, whatever I was doing. I know I am always guaranteed a huge breakfast for a small price, and a stomach full of yummy goodness that'll last me through the day. Their portions are very large- enough to share even though I always refuse to do. Their omelets are pretty phenomenal and so are the waffles but my favorite is their bagel & egg sandwich. It has everything you could want for breakfast conveniently rolled up into one sandwich. Bacon, check; eggs, check; gooey cheese, check; loads of carbs, triple check. Their bagels are the closest to the ones I've had in NYC & thus make the sandwich that much tastier. It's a very casual place, and service has always been pretty fast and efficient. You definitely won't be disappointed. Oh and don't plan on eating anything for the next 6 hours after you leave- you won't need it!!

Bagels, bagels and more bagels. This is an average deli with great bagels. If you're in the area and want a decent and inexpensive breakfast, it fits the bill. Service is quick if you're here to sit down but if you're just picking up, call ahead and you'll be in and out in under five minutes on a normal day.

LOOOOOOVVVVVVVVVVVVEEEE this place!!!! Nice big hearty pieces of bacon, sausage, and ham. Nicely cooked eggs. Perfect place for breakfast with the family. You can even order online on weekdays. I also love their potato pancakes and the kinish. Everything is delicious...

I woke up on a Sunday morning with a severe craving for nova on a bagel with cream cheese. Since that basically nixed all of the trendy brunch options in the area... I came to Yelp searching for the nearest place to get my fill. First warning - don't come to this place hungry. You WILL wait in line outside... and that will only intensify that hunger... which will then translate into ordering too much food. That's exactly what happened to us. Chocolate chip pancakes, bagels & cream cheese, nova, matzo ball soup... while it sounds like an odd combo... we managed to devour all of that between two people. The waitress was great... she was able to work with us when being pickier than I ever want to be while ordering. She told me what dishes to combine to get exactly what I wanted. (I wanted the bagel/cc/nova without all the platter "extras") Only thing that would make this place even better is a mimosa (morning alcohol) option.

I stopped by here the other day to grab breakfast, and I wasn't disappointed. I had a great meal of eggs over easy, ham, grits, and whole wheat toast. I was completely satisfied, the food was well made, and the service was really good. It's nothing fancy, mind you, but it gets the job done quite well and at a reasonable price.

One of my favorite haunts in Coral Gables. Amazing breakfast! I've been going there with the family for about 20 years grabbing the bagels in the morning. It's also a good spot to check out cute chicks from UM hanging out there curing themselves of their hangovers.

Did I hit you on a bad day? Was the cook late to work? Oh my, how can a place get a bagel, muenster cheese, and a side of cucumbers and tomatoes wrong? Well, let's start with bringing the the butt end of the cheese still attached to some plastic wrap, then throw in a day old bagel, and, if that's not enough...find the squishiest tomatoes, slice them haphazardly, and top it off with two dried out pieces of cucumber. My friend ordered a Matzo Ball soup that generated tons of laughter as we delighted in the potential for an SNL skit involving dirty, sweaty, balls. Oops. Someone already did it. There comes a point when an establishment needs to look into their souls and ask, "Is this the best I can possibly be?" Bagel Emporium, the answer is...you can be so much more. Take a cue from the brilliant Mile End Deli in Brooklyn. Miami is ready for good, ethnic, jewish food that is worth making the drive for...what you are serving lately is really gross.

All I've ever had there was breakfast, but it's always been great. I've never waited for a table and the service is always speedy. If you're looking for a typical Jewish style deli in Coral Gables, this is your spot.

Let me start by saying that I am extremely thankful for having the Emporium in Coral Gables. As a U.M. student, a nice, hot breakfast is few and far between to find. The closest thing for us on campus is the cafeteria, which the staff believes that eggs come out as powder from a box. The Emporium provides amazing traditional Jewish delights, such as delectable corned beef and pastrami. All the works. I personally always get breakfast though, wether it be 8:00 am or 4:00 pm just before they close. The Eggs are always cooked however you order them (well, medium, soft, etc.). The Bagels are a whole other story on their own. Baked in house EVERY day, you can always count on a great bagel n' schmear! On weekends there is usually a wait for breakfast, so bring the daily paper with you for your 10-15 minute stand in line. For what it is, a Traditional Jewish Breakfast Deli, the Emporium has mastered its craft. Give it a try, and ask for Amanda as your waitress. She's quick and efficient! Enjoy!

Easy like Sunday morning. Or Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday for that matter. Thank goodness this place is right down the road to nurse me back to health after a long night out or to fill me with java before I start a busy day! No matter what you're in the mood for- pancakes to corn beef hash, you're sure to be satisfied. If you only have a second and want to pick up a bagel, they have lots of those too and it's quick and easy. Almost anything you order comes with your choice of bagel or toast that they make their on the daily. There sandwiches are all huge and filling. Usually it takes me forever to decide what to get! This will always be a staple for me and definitley where I will visit when I come back to UM and feeling a bit nostalgic.

The food is decent but a bit on the pricey side. (What kind of deli charges you for pickles? That's deli blasphemy.) The service is painfully slow if you eat here so my recommendation is to order for pick up.

I love swinging by this place after a long run on Brickell Key. It's small, family oriented and friendly! I usually get breakfast (egg whites, everything bagel w/ CC, bacon and fruit) and the price is just right. Because it is small, can get packed, I know some people have complained about the wait. I personally have not had to wait more than a few minutes to be sat. A definite must-try if you are in the coral gables area!

New Owners = Sadness. I grew up on Bagel Emporium Bagels. I was teething on them before I can remember. I would ride with my Dad on Sunday Mornings to pick up a dozen, and some nova, and chive cheese, rugelach, black 'n white cookies, Jelly Beans, smoked fish, and whatever else. I'd run next door to the RECORD store. Yes. RECORD. 12 inches of vinyl. I'd get a new one every Sunday, too! Every "Sunday Brunch" at friends' houses for Football and Pool Days had Bagel Emporium food somewhere in the background. Even in the later years, I'd pop in and grab a hot bagel with butter on my way to school, and still be called by my first name by the owners. I'm sad to say, they sold the place, and it's just not the same. Thankfully, they've kept the bagel recipe, so they are still the best bagels in Miami. (Hey. Einsteins! A Bagel should be CHEWEY, not soft like Wonderbread.) But the family-owned and old-miami atmosphere is gone. I'll still stop in and buy a dozen to go... but the nostalgia isn't there anymore.

Maybe I didn't "do" this place right... but I don't see what all the hype is about. Now I'll take this over Einsteins Bagels. But I'll take a root canal over an Einstein Bagel.

I was craving a knish but one look at them turned me off (they looked old). So I opted for a bialy bagel with lox spread instead. Oh, it was delicious. For those of you not familiar with a bialy, it is a hole-less bagel. And at this place it is gigantic. For less than 4 bucks I had breakfast AND lunch with that yummy bagel. The creamy-dreamy lox spread had just the right flavor and it was spread on just perfectly: not too much and not too little. At 10:30am the place was busy but i still got my brunch meal in less than 5 minutes. I love this place!

You know how the Universe always has a way of giving you a little light of hope at the end of a dark tunnel? This is what Bagel Emporium was for me. I was devastated when my favorite b'fast place, JP's (in Hollywood) switched cooks. The biscuits and gravy weren't the same. The eggs weren't perfectly poached liked they used to be. It was going downhill. Considering b'fast is my favorite meal of the day, by far, I had to find a replacement...fast. I was beginning to lose all hope when I stumbled into Bagel Emporium (BE). There is no waiting list. You kind of just have to stand at the end of the line and wait for your turn. Fortunately, the time estimate they give is usually dead on. We went on a Sunday and it was packed. They told us 15 minutes and, sure enough, 15 minutes later, we were ordering. The service is fast, which is why they can accommodate so many people so quickly. I ordered my staple: biscuits & gravy, poached eggs, cheese grits, bacon, and a bialy (the love child of the bagel and the English muffin). We also got a side of house potatoes. As you can see, I like to keep my breakfast light in the morning. The food was phenomenal. The bialy was fresh, the eggs a lovely medium-poach, the bacon was crispy, and the potatoes flavorful and plentiful. The star was the biscuits and gravy, of course. The biscuits were fluffy and buttery and the white gravy creamy and delicious. Add a poached egg on top, and a couple drops of hot sauce, and you've got yourself what Southern Hospitality must taste like. The food is so good and the service so speedy, that I'm even willing to overlook the fact that this place is directly across the street from UM (::vomit::), and is always packed w/ 'Canes fans. Mental note, must remember to wear my orange pants and blue jacket next time. Run, don't walk, to BE! You're welcome.

We came in a small group on a Sunday morning and were greeted by a line of people. We were told it would be a few minutes and despite my skepticism it indeed was only a few minutes of waiting. Our waitress was attentive and took our orders very quickly. I decided to try the feta Cheese omelet with the bagel instead of toast. I also went for the chives and cream cheese to shmear on my bagel. Great choice. The feta was perfect and the omelet also had calamata olives. The cream cheese and chive was delicious but my stomach was running out of real estate so I struggled to finish it. The portions are very generous. I'm also a fan of the home-style potatoes that were served with my dish. The price was only about 9 bucks for a large breakfast - not too shabby! If I'm in the area craving breakfast I'll definitely return.

I've been coming here as a regular for years, but I always have the same thing Nova, an Everything Bagel, chive cream cheese, lettuce, tomotoe, Bermuda Onion and capers. It's always spot on good without being exceptional. I went on Memorial Day, hummm, first mistake, a little slow. I should have turned around then but sat down with two difficult friends and ordered a Ruben and Mushroom Barley soup for a change. The service was awful and after looking about I could see that the help must have been up late celebrating because they all looked rather vacant. The soup had NO mushrooms and the only discernable taste was cornstarch. UGG! Long wait...out she came with muy Ruben; it was eitty bitty, no Russian dressing, unaged Swiss Cheese, tasteless corned beef and to top it off the blinkin' thing was dry. I've never had a dry Ruben before. Odd, I thought and then I realized that they had not put sourkraut on top. It came with potatoe salad and the mayo tasted rancid. That was it for me. We all chatted on about business with my friends picking at their food and me obsessed with the ripoff $13.00 dreadful tasting sandwich. It will be a long time before I ever go back here. Let the alums of the University of Miami get dumped on by this ripoff, fake deli.

Hands down, the best breakfast in Miami. Don't be deceived by it's location (right off the highway in a parking lot mall) They will fill your plate up with everything you could possibly eat for breakfast, pour you coffee quickly, and get your food to you quickly and amiably. Their bagels taste great, and they really know what they're doing with their homefries. Also, guys, you know that terrible feeling of not being full after breakfast? No need to fear at bagel emporium; you will go into that beautiful food coma for a couple of hours after visiting this haven of calories and goodness. I'm getting really hungry just thinking about eating at bagel emporium.

I cant believe I've never been to this place before. I got a text this morning from one of my colleagues inviting me to some brunch before we got working on a long day. ETA 10 mins. when I got there I was completely taken back. What a cute little mom and pop breakfast joint... I've been to this strip mall on many occasions and have never noticed it...and damn am I sorry for it. I had a whole wheat poppy seed bagel with eggs, ham and swiss cheese. The eggs were a little runny, I should have asked them cook them more, but overall it was a very gratifying experience, specially since I love breakfast food. Cant wait to check them out after a serious night of drinking, when I actually have the time to have a sit down meal, I have a feeling my rewrite is going to be a whole different story.

Bagels, how I love you. And the ones at Bagel Emporium left me with a big smile and a full belly. They were yeasty, doughy and fabulous - reminiscent of NY. Ahhhh... We came here for a late breakfast - around noon. :) It was still very busy, but we were sat quickly. Our waitress was pleasant and the food came out super fast. I had a sesame bagel with scrambled eggs and cheese. It was massive! Plus home fries. It was like two meals in one. Even though it was way too much food, I still ate most of it. The home fries had a tomatoey flavor that I didn't love, but otherwise everything was perfect. LOVED the bagel, and the eggs were fluffy and perfect. My BF had an omelette, which was also massive. He ate every last bite. We will DEFINITELY be back here. Next time, I want to try the chive cream cheese, see how that measures up. I also plan to pick up a dozen bagels and freeze 'em for the next time I have a craving. This is a Jewish style deli, so they have lox, potato pancakes and lots of other goodies. Can't wait to try some more!

Believe it or not, I have never ordered a bagel from the Bagel Emporium. I have, however, had a number of great breakfasts at this joint, all of which I enjoyed thoroughly. One of my favorite breakfast items happens to be eggs benedict - or should I say, eggs florentine and BE makes them pretty darn good!! You get your choice of grits or potatoes with the eggs, both of which are very tasty. I have yet to try this place for lunch, but I bet it's not too shabby if their lunches are anything like their breakfasts.

Hadn't been here in years and might not return soon. I ordered an extra lean corned beef sandwich, got a disgustingly fatty sandwich instead. Showed the waiter who said, "that is lean". Very good matzo ball soup here though. I would suggest Roasters & Toasters a few miles south for their ability to execute on the lean-ness concept for either corned beef or brisket (Bagel Emporium has the better MB soup however).

This deli was a never bargain and it was often jammed packed but the quality of the food was always good. I would have given it 3 1/2 stars. Unfortunately it recently changed hands. The new owner didn't seem to be particularly cheerful or friendly. I found that my favorite pastrami and corned beef sandwich had gone up in price while at the same time its size had been reduced from "generous" to "just enough". I now drive a few extra miles and get my pastrami fix at Roasters and toasters instead I gave it another try today and the Cheese blintzes were really good. Crispy Golden, with sour cream and blueberry preserve. Only $6. Coffee wasn't bad either. Instead of doing a new review I just updated this one and brought it up a notch to 3 stars

My New Year's Eve can either be considered a huge success or miserable failure, depending on how you look at it. I certainly got my money's worth at the open bar, but consequently ended up huddled over my garbage can in bed before 2 O'Clock. My roommate, Ariana, and her boyfriend sat at the end of my bed rubbing my feet and coaching me to drink water (great friends, I know). I managed to survive the evening, but felt like death when I woke up in the morning. Naturally, I figured that some food would cure me of all my ailments (head ache, stomach ache, throat ache, ect...)! Since I was still in no shape to drive, Ariana and her boyfriend, Harry, decided to go to breakfast with me (yes, still taking care of me 10 hours later!). We agreed upon Bagel Emporium. As we headed there, I sat in the backseat trying to strike up deals with God. You know, promising I would never drink again if only he would make my headache go away (we've all done it at some point or another!). Needless to say, he didn't take me up on my offer--I think he knows better by now--and so I am writing this post over a nice glass of red wine! Back to my review though! Bagel Emporium is a college hot spot located on US 1 across from the University of Miami campus. When you live in the dorms freshman year, you go to Charty's (the campus dining hall) to recap your drunken escapades from the prior evening. When you live off campus, you go to Bagel Emporium (which is now more commonly referred to as just Bagel Emp by girls that feel the need to abbreviate every word in their vocabulary). I would say that about 70% of the diners at Bagel Emporium on any given weekend are UM students; 50% of which are hung-over, 10% which are still drunk, and the other 10% of which are some combination of the two and still in their clothes from the night before. Yes, bagel emporium is one of the few breakfast's spots where you are guaranteed to see a girl in a mini-dress with 5-inch heels and eyeliner half down her face. And no, she did not just come from church...that micro-mini and those stripper heels are not exactly worship apparel. But, I am not passing judgment, as I have been that girl once or twice-its a writ of passage into womanhood, I think. Bagel Emporium is so popular because the portions are huge and the prices are cheap (they also have the best bagels in Miami!). Furthermore, it is the only food place in South Florida that reminds me of home because it is like a Jewish Deli crossed with a diner, neither of which exist anywhere else in Miami. I like to start my meal off with a bowl of Matzo Ball Soup, which is prepared with their homemade chicken noodle soup and a singular large matzo ball. It is such comfort food--warm, salty, and delicious. I also oddly enjoy their French Onion Soup, which is not particularly gourmet but successfully satisfies a sodium craving! As my main dish, I usually order the Vegetable Omelet with Broccoli, Onions, Mushrooms, Peppers, and Tomatoes. I also add cheddar cheese to that, and all omelets can be made with egg whites for just a $1 additional charge. Each and every massive omelet is made with 4 eggs and served with your choice of grits or home fries or french fries or sliced tomatoes and toast or bagel or bialy with butter or cream cheese. So for just $7.95, I get a 4-egg omelet with home fries and an everything bagel toasted with cream cheese. It's such a great value. I don't really like the home fries very much because they are oily and lacking in flavor, but the bagels are absolutely incredible! Just make sure that you request for your omelet to be cooked well-done because they often undercook them, resulting in runny eggs. Ewe! I would recommend ordering breakfast at Bagel Emporium, but I have also enjoyed their Greek Salad with Romaine Lettuce, Feta Cheese, Kalamata Olives, Boiled Egg, Cucumber, Pepperoncini, Red Onion, and Tomato. The food is not gourmet, so keep it basic and order diner classics like salads, and reuben sandwiches, and bagels. The Sweet Potato Fries are notably good, and served with a ranch dipping sauce. Overall, I like Bagel Emporium primarily because it is classic college spot serving massive amounts of food for cheap. I think that Greenstreet in Coconut Grove has a way better omelet (and the most incredible home fries) for a comparable price, and I would recommend it for a more gourmet breakfast seeker. However, Bagel Emporium has a larger menu selection, much better bagels, and larger portions. So it really depends what you're looking for.

I have to be honest. My aunt insisted on going to the Bagel Emporium. I felt as if I was having an affair. I couldn't believe I was really going to another breakfast spot. What was I going to tell Coral Bagel? Needless to say, the time I spend with my Tia Patricia is time I treasure, and will do anything she wants to do (even if it involves betraying my beloved CB apparently). She loves the BE, so I gave in and I must admit I was impressed. The place is very clean and cozy, and the employees and patrons are very friendly. The food, although a bit more expensive than my CB, is very good. The eggs are cooked to perfection, the bacon is crispy and the coffee is very good.

Once upon a time (I detest that dreadful saying back in the day) Bagel Emporium was a jewish deli with a jewish family working and running the place. Their cook books and recipe books were behind the counter, you could tell that the food was home made (for the most part, I mean come on does any deli in Miami brine its own pastrami or make knishes from scratch). It was a local place that filled the void when Marshall Majors went belly (and I mean that guy had a belly) up. The guys behind the counter knew how to slice nova and lox, sturgeon was smoky sweet, and coffee was on the table even as you were sliding your tuches on the booth bench. Then it was sold. The family went south. And it got cleaned up. Not that BE did not need it. But boy do I miss the UM, Dolphin and other sports jerseys that hung behind the counter. The UM students still come, the mix has less Coral Gables and South Miami local people of the faith, more noveau miami people. But the food is still good. The bagels are crusty on the outside and doughy but not gooey on the inside. Joannas needs to learn how to make a bagel and should stop making them and just buy from here or from the House of Bagels down south. Egg salad on rye was plentiful. The corned beef was dry as if it had not been in the steamer. I did not say anything but when asked at the check out how the meal was I mentioned it. When told this, the response was next time say something and we will do something about it. Two thumbs up for that response. A smile and a lecture to speak up so we can make the customer happy. Gotta like that. The french fries were yucko. They make them with that flour coating. Why do people do this to the almighty french fry. Why. No pickles came with the sandwich, but when I said something, the waitress said she would get some. And sure enough the pickle bowl, sour and dill came out. Very tasty. I say why not go back to the old days when every table came with a pickle bowl. You know who does it in Pinecrest (and cole slaw). But then their prices are much higher. All in all, its a good place to get a good meal at a decent price. Not quite as homey as it used to be, but decent enough. I am upping my star rating based on several recent visits. Good service and good food. I'll get over my nostaliga.

I so do not get this place. My in-laws always insist on going there because of nostalgia but the food and service are awful. Why is there always a line? I feel sick every time I eat there. Bagel Bar East is way better imho.

Great for breakfast or lunch. Bagel Emporium offers a down home Deli feel. Although I have been there many times, for hung over mornings, or delicious kosher lunches my favorite is breakfast. Personally I order the Salmon Benedict. They slather salty smoked salmon with hollandaise sauce over an english muffin. You get your choice of a side including a bagel, fruit or my choice grits. The cheese grits are good, not great. I also recommend the omelets, and Matzo Ball Soup. Prices are right especially for the quality of deli food. There is also a walk up counter where you can get food to go, or you can order smoked salmon, platters for jewish holidays etc.

Aaaaah!!! My little slice of NY to get me through my 3-year stop over in Miami. The bagels are the best I've had in Miami. And the fish is even better---they have quite the variety. The lox plates come complete with capers...yummy. Their other breakfasts are great too...great omelets. Coffee is just ok. Not my fav, but get the matzo ball soup if you're a fan. Service is super-fast --just like in NY! Thank god for NY Jewish transplants.

A ridiculous amount of both food and elderly Jews, equally. Both my husband and I had the omlettes, and it was A LOT of food. Everything automatically comes with bagels and has a very nice atmosphere. The food came out ridiculously quickly. I would go back if I could.

The bagels are always fresh and the schmear is delish. My husband and I have both enjoyed every meal we've ever ordered here (with the exception of my matzo brie, which was a little boring). We come here regularly for late breakfast. I LOVE that they serve it until 4pm every day. If you are looking for something kosher, they carry kosher foods but do not keep a kosher kitchen, to my knowledge. The service is always good too, even when the place is packed. This is a great place to spend a weekend brunch! And the sandwiches are HUGE and good as well.

Typical NY-style Deli that makes yummy bagels and lox... Have the standard Matzah ball soup but very little in the way of Kosher meat (only hotdogs I think). Anyway, great place for a brunch, especially with breakfast served until 4pm. But am I the only one that sees the humor in their pamphlets advertising "Yom Kippur meals" available for pickup?!

I sometimes come to this place for lunch when I need a good deli sandwich and soup. They have pretty good bagels and the sandwiches never disappoint. My favorite are their soups though, I like the white bean and the lentil a lot. The soup of the day changes with the day of the week. And they always give you toasted bagel chips with your soup for dipping. It's a small place so it can get busy, but there's never a long wait. If you're with a group, paying can be kind of a hassle as it never seems to be super easy to split the checks at the cash register up front - and people are walking in through the same space. But it's not an unreasonable meal, especially for the area.

You can't beat this place. Everything they make is delicious, and the prices are extremely fair. Also, the service is fast and nice. It is my go-to spot for breakfast and lunch. In particular, I love their soups, the fries, the Rachel sandwich, the hot dog with sauerkraut, and the salt bagels. But everything I have tasted here has been top notch. I can't recommend it highly enough.

The best breakfast place in south miami. Great bagels. Healthy and fresh food. Prices are resonable. I am a repeated customer. No other place provides this quality. Omelette and eggs are great. Biscuits and gravy are the best I've had but better than most. Always happy when I visit.

Bagel Emporium always delivers great deli food with enormous portions and harder-to-find Jewish specialties. As a University of Miami student, I would often hole myself up in one of the booths for a marathon cram session. The staff is familiar and friendly; the menu has great breakfast and lunch offerings..and yes, the pickle spear DOES come on the side of pretty much everything! I have, have, have to get the potato latkes complete with applesauce and sour cream when I go; Bagel Emporium is one of only two places I know in Miami that has them. Back in my sophomore year the Belgian waffle (complete with fresh strawberries and real whipped cream) and I had a serious fling-- I had to let it down with "it's not you, it's me--and my complete lack of self-control". Speaking of self-control, coffee lovers rejoice! The wait staff will keep the hot brew coming until you have the caffeine shakes! This little hole-in-the-wall is a jewel and has earned its spot as a popular family-friendly/poor-student friendly joint.

I swallow my pride and come here at least once a week, even though everyone in the shop knows me and my usual order. The garlic bagels (toasted with cream cheese) are like.....nothing on earth. I think they fall from the clouds to grace my mouth with a party, and of course questionable breath, but I really can't get enough of them. I love to walk a little bit up Dixie to the Starbucks near by to order a frappucino and be really tacky by bringing in my own delicious bagel from Bagel Emporium rather than ordering breakfast there. Funny thing, the cashier always says how good it smells, but maybe she's just trying to hint at my faux-pas. My friends have ordered turkey melts and other things and also loved them, and when you ask them to add egg to a bagel, they are extremely generous! I personally think the prices are great, it takes forever to om nom nom my giant bagel loaded with heavenly cream cheese, and it costs barely over $2. There is no tip jar at the front register, but I always give the guy who took my to-go order a $1, as that is permitted!

I've been here at least a dozen times and today was the straw that broke the camel's back. I am honestly shocked that this place has 4 stars because I've never had a good experience and today's experience solidified this bad review in my mind. It was not extremely busy and we were seated right away (a rarity). It was 20 minutes before the waitress came and took our order, despite the table next to us requesting that she take our order because they could see how long we had been there already. Once she took our orders the service just got progressively worse. My friend ordered a bagel sandwich and instead (after a long wait) she brought out a plate of eggs and bacon saying that his bagel would be out soon as she walked away. I ordered french toast and a turkey sandwich. She brought both out but did not bring the french fries or the honey mustard that I requested when I ordered. She also did not bring out syrup for the french toast. By the time all those things came out, I had come to the most pressing concern of the meal, I FOUND A PIECE OF METAL BRILLO PAD IN MY FRENCH TOAST!!!!!!!!!! I'm not talking about a small piece or anything, this was approximately 1.5" long and seemingly cooked into the french toast. Thankfully I noticed an odd looking piece of what I thought was burnt french toast that I decided to pick off, if not, I would've surely bitten into it. I showed the waitress and she grabbed it and walked away saying "we'll take care of your meal, whatever you want, it's on us" (remember this b/c it plays a key role later on). At this point what I really want, is a new batch of french toast b/c I'm certainly not going to eat this one, but this thought seems to go right over her head since she just left my food there and left. When she finally walked by again I grabbed her and told her I'd like a new order. 20 minutes later the new batch came out and a manager had still not been by to apologize or see if everything was ok. This is the hallmark of poor customer service and it didn't surprise me at all seeing as the service has always been poor here. I'll spare you all the other mistakes that happened after this and get to the end of the meal. After about 10 minutes of being finished with our meal we had still not seen our waitress (it's a really small place so it's hard not to see people). Finally we saw her and I asked for the check (for my friends food presumably). She brings back the check and IT HAS ALL MY FOOD STILL ON THE CHECK!!!!!! I politely tell her that this is incorrect b/c of the metal I previously found in my french toast. She then takes the check and as she's walking away (actually she was about 15-20 ft away at this point) she yells "so do you want separate checks?" (keep in mind this is from the other side of the restaurant and there are about 7 seated tables between us) so I obviously reply with "I shouldn't have a check so what is there to split?". This obviously made no sense to her so she left. About 5 minutes later the manager finally makes an appearance, woohoo! He comes to the table and in a very argumentative tone says "We can't comp your whole meal, we already took off the french toast, and that's all that there was a problem with". I don't take very kindly to poor customer service or to people who are 100% wrong and trying to force me into believing that they are right, so this gets me very angry. I politely tell him that I also ordered the turkey sandwich, I was told by the waitress that whatever I ordered would be comp'ed and apart from the fact that there was METAL IN MY FOOD, the service had been terrible in general and I ran thru a quick list of problems. After a couple minutes of back and forth, he finally agrees to comp my meal leaving us with just my friends meal (which was incorrect if you remember) to pay for. We figure this isn't worth arguing anymore b/c clearly the management has no problem with the quality of the food or the service so they're not going to do anything else. For those of you who think this is just an isolated incident you would be incorrect. Every time I have eaten here the service has been slow and poor. It took 2 of us well over an hour to eat a "quick lunch" and it was actually one of my quicker visits there. If you have a big group, forget it. I went in a group of 6 once and we were there for 2 hours, not including the 20 minute wait time. The only reason I go here is because it's convenient , but what I realized today is that even though the location is convenient, the service is so slow and poor I can afford to drive 20-30 minutes away and still eat in the same amount of time. The food is ok, nothing spectacular, and even if it was, no food is good enough to put up with this type of service not to mention METAL IN THE FOOD! If you insist on going to eat here, I've been told that Calvin is the only good server. By good I mean capable of bringing your order out correctly and in a timely manner. Don't say I didn't warn you.

Could be better in the way of decor, but as for bagels and bagel-like fare, nowhere can compared. Also hurray for fantastic potato pancakes!

Everything I have had here is very good. The food is very simple, but done very well. Love the sweet potato fries! The service is usually good and the prices are good too.

I went to Bagel emporium a few weeks ago first time the food was very good however when you have someone at the front they need a friendlier attitude. That makes all the difference in the world.

This is a definite go-to place for bagels. Located right next to TGI Friday's across from UM, it is a prime location for business. They have very good pumpernickel bagels and I like their lox. They also have good Jewish deli food like babkas, latkes, and matzoballs. A great selection of bagels and very good eggs/omelettes too. I don't like coming here on weekends because it's packed and it feels awkward to stand around waiting for a table. This place reminds me alot of Coral Bagles futher north on this street.

This has always been my favorite place for deli and bagels when visiting my folks in the Pinecrest area. I've been going here since my days of living in South Florida, and it never disappoints. Sandwiches are huge, omelets are always fresh and tasty. Wholesome soup, great pickles and fresh baked desserts. The "new" owners have done a nice job of redecorating and giving this UM spot a fresh look. Tough waiting area in the entrance, but worth the wait. This is the best spot for a Reuben in the area, if you like 'em. It's always interesting to see the UM students (hung over from the night before) on the weekends trying to look good, too!

I was really sick with the flu, and the matzo ball soup from bagel emporium made me feel worlds better. The soup is served with yummy bagel chips and giant matzo balls. This is a great Jewish deli right here in South Miami!

I have been gone from Miami for a while and when I would visit, I would go to BE and get a meal. Always delicious, always great service and always a friendly atmosphere. I walked in and something was different. The place looked different and felt different. It didn't seem clean. And the absense of an hour wait should have been my first sign. Back in the day, when I lived here (until the early 90's) I owned several waterfront restaurants and even bought my Sunday Brunch bagels here. Well, I have moved back. And this afternoon myself and a friend went in for some lunch/brunch whatever. It just wasn't good at all. And it seemed that the patrons around me where having trouble too. The waiter was terrible. You would ask him for something and he would disappear and not bring it. People were waving him and the Manager?? down the whole time we were there, I ordered chopped chicken liver on a bagel and my friend order lox, eggs and onions. It was delivered without any utensils and no bagel with the eggs. The CCL was turning bad, the pot salad was not homemade and was turning as well. The tomato slices with my bagel were crunchy. My friend's eggs were not delicious either. I can't remember a time when I received a bad meal there. Until now. I told the waiter about the potato salad and he said it's not very good and everyone complains. Where are my jewish friends that used to own the place? Because I am sure there are new owners and man, they don't get it. Too bad as this was a Miami Icon. No more. Go to Coral Bagels a little farther North - much better food and service, and on the Beach, Jerry's Famous Deli!! Great food and service as well.

A decent bagel-deli diner that feeds the Coral Gables folks, it's just down the road from University of Miami. What I love about this place is the potato latkes! With a side of apple sauce and requested sour cream, it's just a greasy pile of carb heaven! Mmmm mmmm. The bagels are chewy with a bit of crisp. This place is packed on the weekends.

I have been to bagel emporium many times over the last 15 years. Today, I ordered my food with the rest of the people at my table. Their food was brought and mine wasn't. I was waiting patiently when my server said that what I ordered took a 'long time' . I have eaten turkey burgers there all the time and it's never taken that long. I waited another 15 minutes ontop of the 30 and again was told it just took longer for my order. When it finally got there it was a garden burger and my waitress didn't want to believe me. Amazingly she tried to argue with me until she went back and realized she wrote the ticket wrong. Moreover to add insult to injury it was even on the wrong bread. Then the guy who seats (who I think is the manager as he wears snazzy metrosexual designer jeans) people came over and rudely asked why I didn't like my turkey burger. I told him I wasn't sure as the waitress brought me a garden burger. By this time, I was annoyed and no longer wanted to wait. How did the manager and the waitress respond? They didn't. Neither said sorry or let me give you a dessert for free. Nothing. Wow. Miami is full of diners. Go to another one where they actually care about customer service. Plus now that I think about it, the deli sandwiches there are really dry , the bagels are hard and the matzah ball soup tastes like it's from a can. Hey! Come to think of it, they did me a favor. Thank you by owner!

On the whole, I find Bagel Emporium an average diner. Start with the good: this is a great place to get a party platter/catering platter. They can put one together on very short notice. And the price was fair, too. Dining in on another occasion, I thought the food was OK, though somewhat 'expensive for what it is.' I had the whitefish platter, which had tasty whitefish salad and a standard bagel. It came with a side, and I choose fries (also pretty standard in flavor but pleasantly crisp). Really ought to be a dollar or two cheaper, but I came away satisfied. On the way out, tried an apricot rugelach as a spur of the moment choice. Yikes. This rugelach tasted like it was baked by someone who had maybe (maybe!) seen a photo of a rugelach, but certainly had never eaten one, and probably didn't know anyone else who had eaten one either. I know this is a bit of hyperbole, but the apricot rugelach was remarkably atrocious. I would not bother trying any other baked goods here.

I have visited BE many times over the past few years. I feel like the last few times I've been, it was not as good as when I first started eating here a few years ago. Their soups are absolutely delicious, but the deli sandwiches are just okay, as are their bagels. I think I'll start eating elsewhere for brunch.

First time here today, the service was so awful it really left a sour taste. Never been here before so I didn't really know how it worked with the ordering in line or sitting but when I asked I got ignored by one person and another server was beyond rude telling me I ready ordered so I obviously couldn't sit.

Best lunch in Miami, hands down. Great things on the menu, I recommend sitting down and relaxing a few, they can have you in and out in 20 minutes if you are in a hurry. I prefer the Turkey dinner special on Thursdays - every Thursday is Thanksgiving for me here !! Carryout is only slow if they are swamped, chill and say hello to someone you don't know if they are taking a little longer. Prices here are not cheap but the specials are reasonable. Funny thing, I have never ordered a Bagel from here. I may have to try that.

It was our first time here. We found it while trying to locate where Cycle World had moved to. It was a yummy breakfast but the place is kinda dirty and the mood/comversations between the staff was super offputting. We had breakfast around 2pm so understandably they were out of most bagels. We both had the hungry man special $9 (2 eggs, 3 slices deelicious bacon, and choice of homefries (yum!) Or grits or grapefruit plus choice of bagel or toast. We both enjoyed it very very much. However, waitress never once refilled our diet coke or iced coffee. Major negative for us. They lose 1 star for three reasons; it needs to b much MUCH cleaner (especially the bathrooms and the kitchen which is visible to customers). The only sweet bagel they offer is the cinnamon raisin and they offer ZERO sweet cream cheeses and butters. Last reason is very specific to me so it won't be its own star...and that is that they do not offer biscuits as a side. You can just buy 1 biscuit (without gravy) Nope..its gotta be biscuits and gravy and thats $5. We might be back if we're in the area. I can't deduct another star because we both really liked our food and that's what is most important to us.

Great spot for breakfast! I have been coming here since I was a kid and it never disappoints. Many of the breakfast meals come with free coffee. I love their orange juice it is very fresh and refreshing. I usually get the B.E egg sandwich but ask with it on a bagel instead of toast. It is huge! Always fills me up and keeps me satisfied for a long time. I get it with eggs ham and cheese. And I always choose the house fries as my side. They are cut potatoes with a great seasoning. Everything you order there will be delicious!

I have never had a real bagel before in my life. Boyfriend decided that the best time to fix it would be in Miami. It was the first Jewish deli I have ever been to, and I now see the error of my ways. Back in California, all I ever had were bagel-shaped breads, which were delicious, but not bagels. They have an awesome meal that is about $6 for a two eggs your way, a side, and a bagel. Oh my goodness. I just got a side of tomatoes, and compared to the enormous amount of food that the boyfriend got (he got a side of cheesy grits), it was nothing. But the bagel was a totally different experience all together. This was chewy, delicious, and totally different from so-called bagels on my beloved west coast. Sorry, San Francisco...until you get a Jewish deli, I don't think I can go back to Noah's. Plus, we also got a black and white cookie thing which was fantastic. It was like eating the top part off of a cupcake, but as a cookie. Om nom nom nom!

Yum yum yum. This is my new Bagel Emporium mantra. I enjoyed the egg salad sandwich on a kaiser roll. The bread was soo fresh and delicious. The egg salad was plentiful, pouring out of the sandwich. I had fries as a side, and they were so perfectly crunchy I took the rest to-go. My friend swapped out her side for a fruit cup, which looked really fresh and had a nice variety of different fruits. Our server was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere inside just feels so nice and cozy (like a small-town restaurant where everyone knows each other) that you don't want to leave. I'm looking forward to coming back for brunch!

A staple of UM students, alums, and Gables-ites alike, Bagel Emporium is a great place to grab a delicious and filling breakfast or lunch for a pretty reasonable price. Serving up all the Jewish deli staples you love - from matzo ball soup to pastrami on rye to potato pancakes to 4-egg omelettes to special catering offerings for the Jewish High Holidays, Bagel Emporium has it all! I'm a big fan of their turkey pastrami and matzo ball soup, as well as the crisp bagel chips that come alongside the soup. The place is relatively small and can get pretty packed, so be prepared to wait a bit for a table. Also, try to avoid coming with a large group - the set-up isn't really conducive to parties over about 4 or 5. Service friendly, if a bit brusque when BE is busy. Food comes out fast, which is appreciated. Drink refills are free (at least for soft drinks and coffee). Prices are very reasonable - expect about $15 for a very filling lunch with a (non-alcoholic) drink.

Enjoy!

All I've ever had there was breakfast, but it's always been great. I've never waited for a table and the service is always speedy. If you're looking for a typical Jewish style deli in Coral Gables, this is your spot.

Great breakfast place for the price! The service can be slow, and the wait can be long, especially on weekends.

Going for breakfast? Order the B.E. sandwich. Going for lunch? Order the tuna salad club, on a wheat bagel. Trust me. You'll thank me later.

Surprisingly good bagels and spreads. Busy and a bit chaotic, you have to elbow your way to the counter and wait to get someones attention.

  • Debbi P.

I love love love their cinnamon-raisin challah french toast. Omletes are good too. When I'm in Florida, I make it a point to stop by this place. There could be a long wait but the line moves pretty fast. Good service, good portion size - definitely a must try in the Miami area.

Best bagels in town. Take it from me, a Jew... I know a good bagel when I see one. A good jew also knows how to complain, and I can't complain about this place one bit. The staff are awesome too.

First time here today, the service was so awful it really left a sour taste. Never been here before so I didn't really know how it worked with the ordering in line or sitting but when I asked I got ignored by one person and another server was beyond rude telling me I ready ordered so I obviously couldn't sit.

  • Kendall B.
